Since the promising results of our initial investigation of a low-cost, web-based virtual reality platform for immersive analytics, WebVR has gained an enormous amount of traction and support from the community. Scaling our initial application had become a real issue; so, with the emergence of frameworks for WebVR and other modern web technologies, we are now working towards a follow-up investigation. Our investigation will evaluate our web-based platform for immersive analytics in terms of its effectiveness at enabling understanding compared to 2D and physical representations of that data. We hope to enable enhanced sense-making by providing users with effective and intuitive methods of interaction and collaboration through our ubiquitous analytics platform.
Peter graduated from Bangor University in North Wales in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Continuing his studies at Bangor, he graduated in 2015 with a master’s degree in the same subject. He is now studying for an MPhil/PhD with the Visualization, Interaction & Graphics Research Group in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chester. His current research involves virtual reality and immersive analytics for the web.
